Inside Out - A Window Is Never Just a Window by Laurel D. Rund

This artwork was inspired by a photograph I took inside Ringling’s Ca’ d’Zan, the magnificent Venetian-style mansion John Ringling built for his wife, Mable.

What began as a simple window with its panes of glass became, through my transformation, a surreal vision — where the outside world seemed to turn inward, and imagination reshaped reality.   Laurel

A window is never just a window. It is a threshold, where stillness within meets the wonder beyond.

Through the glass, palms sway in enchanted light. Their fronds unfold in colors born of dream and sky. Lavender fields drift into aquamarine pools, and shadows stretch like whispers from another realm.

Here, imagination loosens its tether. What is real begins to dissolve into what might be. The lines between inner and outer soften and blur, until the heart cannot tell where it ends, or where the mystery begins.

The panes divide the view, yet each square holds a secret—a fragment of beauty woven into the whole. Step closer, and the glass becomes a mirror, reflecting the soul’s longing to wander into landscapes of awe.

Inside turns outward, outward turns inward, until the two are one breath, one luminous vision.

And in that moment, we remember: the world is always more than what it seems—
a vast and endless universe.
